The spa is an integral part of the River Rock experience—a place to warm up after an adventure, unwind after a busy day, or simply sit together and watch the landscape change.
We designed it as a place for every generation to come together.

How It Came Together
When we began designing the pool, the land itself started telling us what to do.
The elevations created beautiful natural tiers, and we knew immediately that the spa should be raised above the pool. It became both a beautiful architectural feature and an easy transition between the water experiences.
With multi-generational guests in mind, we wanted the spa to be exceptionally easy to enter and exit. You can sit on the edge and simply swing your legs over to dangle your feet, or step directly into the warm water.
An additional step at seat level makes getting out just as easy—and has become one of our favorite places to sit. It allows you to alternate between the warmth of the spa and the fresh air while keeping your lower body immersed.
The Quiet Side of the Adventure
The pool is for swimming, floating, sliding and jumping.
The spa is where we rest.
After a busy day, guests naturally move between the two—warming up in the spa, taking a refreshing dip, then returning to the warmth.
Sometimes our favorite position isn't in one of the spa seats at all. We simply rest our head on our arms along the infinity edge, almost like resting your head on a desk, and look outward.
The breeze moves through the trees. Squirrels drop their treasures. The dark water becomes a mirror for the trees and sky.
There is no need to talk.
But if you do, the conversations tend to become the moments you remember.
101° of Relaxation
We have found 101°F to be our favorite spa temperature.
The thermostat naturally cycles within a couple of degrees, keeping the water comfortably warm while allowing the temperature to settle naturally between heating cycles.
Your Stay • Your Way: If you prefer a slightly cooler spa, simply let us know. We are happy to adjust the temperature to your preference.

The spa is drained, cleaned, and refreshed before every guest stay, so it is ready for you to begin your own quiet ritual.
A Little Privacy
We intentionally kept the spa lighting soft and understated.
There are no bright lights in the spa. We wanted the space to feel calm, private and comfortable—especially for guests who want to relax with a little more modesty.
The surrounding pool can glow and change color while the spa remains a peaceful, softly lit retreat.
The Infinity Spa
Creating the infinity edge was one of our biggest design puzzles.
We wanted the edge to feel natural—not manufactured—and we wanted it to belong to the surrounding landscape.
We spent months searching for the perfect travertine, eventually finding the color and smooth texture we loved at a warehouse in Northern Virginia. We selected PebbleTec to complement the Black Pearl finish of the pool, then carried the natural stone character into the spa's infinity edge.
The tiny rounded stones became the perfect finishing detail.
A Family Project
And this part is important to us because the spa wasn't simply designed by us—it was built by our family.
Our granddaughter was just eight years old when we laid the tile along the infinity edge.
Together, we placed, cemented, grouted and washed the tiny stones, carefully working each section and watching the design come together.
Every detail mattered.
And now, every time we look at that infinity edge, we see more than beautiful stone. We see a little piece of our family history.
Beauty in the Details
Every detail was designed with both beauty and safety in mind.
Rebecca chose the taupe accent tiles to clearly define the spa's seats, step and ledge.
The interior isn't a continuous circle of seating, either. We intentionally left space to stand, rest against the edge, or simply soak while looking outward.
Bullnose edges and black diagonal tiles complete the design, while the gentle movement of the water creates a peaceful soundscape.
The hydrotherapy jets provide a soft warmth across your back as the water ebbs and flows.
After Dark
From the spa, the pool becomes its own nighttime show.
We watch the changing lights move through the water, taking turns saying:
“That's my favorite.”
“No, that's my favorite.”
The colors themselves become a kind of therapy.
And then there are the drifting lantern balls.
They change colors as they move around the pool, sometimes finding one another, bumping together, separating and chasing each other as though they have a purpose of their own.
We watch it all from the warmth of the spa.
Sometimes we talk. Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we simply watch.
Year-Round Soaking
The spa and pool are open year-round, so the water experience doesn't have to end when summer does. Winter heating is an optional guest expense. We keep the water circulating as much as practical, but winter weather has its own ideas.
On the coldest days, the pool has even been known to freeze over.

One winter morning, we discovered ice floating in the spa and watched a piece slide all the way across the pool.
It is a reminder that River Rock is a true four-season property—beautiful in every season, but always shaped by nature.
On chilly evenings or snowy days, the white spa towel rack nearby makes a warm towel easy to reach after stepping out.
